Post settings, tags, and excerpts

Post settings control the details around a post: where it appears, how it is described, and how it is organized.

Open post settings

In the editor, select the post settings control to review the post details.

Settings available in beta

  • Post URL: edit the slug that appears at the end of the post URL.
  • Publish date: review the date and time associated with the post.
  • Tags: group related posts by topic.
  • Post access: set whether a post is public or limited to members during beta.
  • Excerpt: write a short summary for previews and emails.
  • Authors: review or adjust the listed author names.
  • Feature this post: mark an important post as featured.

Use tags consistently

Tags work best when they are simple and reused. For example, use one tag such as “Creator growth” consistently instead of creating several near-duplicates.

Write a useful excerpt

A good excerpt tells readers what the post covers in one or two sentences. Avoid repeating the title word for word.
